Brushes won't register on canvas

I’ve been using Krita for a fair while now and haven’t had much issues with the programme, however since Monday I cannot get the brushes to work at all. All my drivers are up to date, my tablet pen is registering as I’m able to use it everywhere, including Krita, the calligraphy pen thing even works, but as soon as I choose the brush tool and try and use it on the canvas it doesn’t even seem to read it as an input anymore. I’ve made sure to try it with a fresh file, normal layer, I’ve even double checked to select all and then deselect. I’ve set the programme to default, I even completely uninstalled and reinstalled it and I can’t get it to work. I did notice on the programme log, there was a crash on Monday so I’m wondering if that could have affected it, but I would have thought uninstalling and reinstalling it would have fixed any prior issues. I really hope I’m just being an absolute fool and missing something really obvious, here’s hoping this is a simple fix.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Krita keeps the installation when you uninstall and re-install it, so to be completely sure, you need to reset the configuration.

However, it’s very likely that an update of your operating system is the culprit. There are a couple of tablet driver settings you can tweak, like switching to / away from Windows Ink if you are on Windows etc, and a couple of tablet settings within Krita. See here for things that you might try.

Another thing that can cause issues with the canvas is Canvas Acceleration. If you are on Windows, go to Settings -> Configure Krita -> Display -> Canvas Acceleration and there set the Renderer from OpenGL to Angle (or vice versa). Then restart Krita. Or try whatever other options there are for you on your operating system in the “Canvas Acceleration” section.

Thanyou for the help,
I did try completely wiping all the files with the last uninstall but it looks like it had held onto some files, wiping those and redownloading seems to have done the trick!

I tried the other suggestios you gave before doing that and they didn’t make a difference unfortunately, so I wonder if that crash I previously experienced had been the culprit, either way it’s working now.

Thankyou again.
