Can't change font style

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to change a font style (e.g Black in arial) but the dropdown next to font does nothing (in edit text window). It always reverts to Regular, whatever i select.
I also found a youtube video that has the exact same issue.

This is a big blocker. I didn’t find any other related post or bug reported.
I’m on windows 10, krita 4.2.9

thank you!

Hello and welcome to the forum

You’re right - the font style drop down has no effect and reverts to normal or regular. You can do bold, italic and underline with the other controls.

If you try editing in the SVG tab section, a change to font-style seems to affect the font of the content of the SVG tab, which is not right of course.

Text is not fully functional as far as svg specification coverage goes and this is known to the developers.
You may want to try Inkscape for text and put it out as a .png image for use as a layer in krita if you want more of that sort of facility.

thank you @AhabGreybeard

@Kikibot Is there a plan to resolve this issue?

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @kikibot display help.

For the record, font-style changing has been fixed in 5.0, though we still can’t reliably change the font-stretch (so narrow and expanded styles won’t work). I have an idea how to fix the latter, but it would need to be together with a bigger refactor of the text tool.
