Can't draw on canvas anymore

I’ve been working on an animation on Krita for weeks now. Today, I’m not sure if I misclicked something, but suddenly whenever I drew on a specific layer, the marks would be offput from where I was drawing. I went online and saw someone say I should switch to “windows ink” in the “krita configuration” to fix this, so I did that. When I reopened Krita, though, I could no longer make marks on the canvas. My pen doesn’t even move on the canvas, it just freezes. I can do other things, just no mark-making with any tool. I tried reverting it back from windows ink, but that didn’t change anything. I’ve also restarted my computer. In the “tablet testing” screen, everything works fine. This problem occurs with my wacom tablet, my mouse, and my trackpad.
I’m not very tech savvy; I was able to find one person with this same problem but their forum from 2021 never seemed to get resolved. Please help!! :sob:

 Hello @stinkburger and welcome to the forum!

Okay, sounds not nice, but will mainly be because you’re not tech-savvy as you say.
Let us begin with bureaucracy.

What version of Krita do you use? You can find the exact number in the upper right corner of the splash screen, or in Krita via the menu ‘‘Help’’ >> ‘‘Report Bug’’ behind ‘‘Version’’.

From where have you got your copy of Krita?

Which version of Windows do you use?

If you answer the questions before or after you tried the following is up to you, because the first thing to do here is to create a defined environment, what may already exist.

In Krita set via ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Tablet Settings’’ the radio-button in front of ‘‘WinTab’’, confirm that dialog with the OK-Button and then restart Krita.
As the next thing you have to open your graphics tablets driver application, I think Wacom named it “Command Center”, you will find it in the Windows Start menu. There search for a setting named “WindowsInk”, most manufacturers place it with the pen settings, in case it is enabled then disable it and confirm it in the way Wacom described in the manual and close the app.

Does it work now, if not report back and we go further.

So it was working, so something must have changed… I’ve no idea what but…

Sorry, I have forgotten to ask, do you have a transform mask created for that specific layer?
Because that is one of the main reasons if such an issue happeens for only one layer.

Additionally, it would be good if you add a screenshot of your complete Krita window, including title and status-bar, where your layers docker is, if possible, fully visible, but shows at least the layer that has the issue.

@Michelist thank you so much for responding!

I did the “configure Krita” recommendation again and this time it worked! I’m not sure what I did different, but everything is back to normal, so thank you!!
