The program does not let me use the buttons on the tablet (I have an xppen 16 pro). so i can’t zoom the canvas, go back, rotate… it just tells me what function each button does but it doesn’t work as such.
I redownloaded the tablet drivers to see if that was the problem (I have everything on default mode) but nothing happens… I tried another application (Adobe Fresco) and it allows me everything i mentioned that Krita doesn’t let me, so, i need help.
I really like krita, i don’t want to use another program… I have it updated and everything. I don’t know what’s going on. I would like to attach a video here but it won’t allow me since i’m new… I speak Spanish so sorry if what i’m trying to express is not well understood
I’m currently asking myself if you have assigned your tablet buttons in Krita to the buttons/actions that are defined in your driver application? This is mainly because often tablets are pre-configured to work with Adobe products*.
You can assign shortcuts in Krita under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Canvas Input Settings’’ and under ‘‘Settings’’ >> ‘‘Configure Krita’’ >> ‘‘Keyboard Shortcuts’’.
Additionally, you should define a profile for every application you use with your tablet, but at least for Krita, you can find this usually on the page where you set up your pen in the driver application of XP Pen, up there where the “Application” area is. The advantage is that you can have completely different settings/mappings via profiles and can adapt your driver optimal to every app you use with it.
For your dial-ring, you will probably have to assign actions like (mouse-wheel) up and down.

*And since more and more apps think it’s cool to be the 1001st bad copy of PS, they also copy PS’s input-profiles and work with that set of input-profiles, making users think the programs that don’t work out of the box with their tablet may have a bug. But there are more apps from other areas, like CAD, with different input-profiles, that is the reason why graphic tablets have input profiles. And so there is no reason to change Krita’s settings just because the others have no self-respect and are focused on sales figures.
hello!! thank you very much for answering. My tablet works fine in other programs, its in Krita that doesnt read the buttons that hasnt happened before.
It happened when i downloaded the drivers again, since while watching a video on YouTube i noticed that it didnt read the pressure of the brushes well, (I thought the brushes came in the application without reading the pressure, its my first time using a drawing program ) and when i corrected it, it happened that it no longer reads the buttons, its very strange.
On the 28th I downloaded the folder called “debug symbols” from version 5.2.6 of krita, and it works fine if i open the application from there, otherwise, it doesnt work well.
Helloooo!! thankuuu for answering!!!
Is this the window where i can correct the buttons? I was wondering if you have any videos to guide me with this
The problem is that this happened after correcting the pressure of the strokes, before, it read everything perfectly. Now only reads it if i enter krita from the “debug symbols” folder that came with the latest 5.2.6 update.
I will try to correct as you tell me in the meantime, again, thank you very much!!!
It depends what you want to make the buttons to do, If you want to set the button for eraser, adding a layer, etc., go to the “Keyboard shortcuts” section, (which should be called “Accessos rapidos de tectado” based on your screenshot). If you want to use a button for zooming, go to “canvas input settings” (which should be called “Preferencias de entrada de lienzo”).
Each of your tablet buttons can be assigned to a key/combination of keys. So you should use a regular keyboard to see whether the keys assigned to your XP’s buttons actually work with krita.
I tried the shortcuts on my keyboard and they work perfectly, i also checked the page and it says that it should work well with my tablet!! It seems that there are no errors on that part but it is always good to verify.
It sounds silly… i know where the things you mention are but i have no idea what to do with it here some photos, this is what it looks like when i enter from the “debug symbol” folder, which according to what i investigated, is used to “fix errors in the source code of any software” so, i think it is a problem with that, since it does not modify the interface or access to anything from when i enter krita outside of that folder that is to correct errors, and when i enter from there, the buttons work fine mmmm
Now, if thats the case, I dont know what to do with that either KSASADJKADH sorry to bother you, if you have any ideas, please let me know!
I haven’t ever been into the debug folder myself, so I can’t give you any advice on that. But I can try and walk you through setting up keyboard shortcuts in Krita. Here is an example of replacing the shortcut for the eraser:
I go into keyboard settings and click on “painting”
Once you have clicked “none”, you need to press the button you want to set on your tablet. (you may need to then click the “reassign” prompt if the shortcut is already used by another function)
The button should work now. If it doesn’t, then it probably means that something is wrong with Krita, your computer, or your tablet.
The process for adding a canvas input is similar. Just locate what you want to change and double click “add shortcut”. From the drop down menu, you probably should select “key combination”, and then double click “input”. Do step 3 from above
