Can't touch the canvas without the entire screen freezing

i’ve been having this for a while now, but at a random moment while i’m drawing this weird thing happens in which suddenly the screen glitches until i take the cursor out of the canvas, then it goes back to normal, the worst part is that it keeps happening even if i close the program and reopen it, only reestarting the computer solves the issue

Does it seem to happen after you alt+tab into another app, like Discord running in a web browser tab?

Also, you tagged your topic with the crash tag. Are you also experiencing crashes?

Final question, can you look up the Krita version #? (Help > About Krita)

I didn’t pay too much attention if alt tabbing was causing the problem, i listen to music and use Vivaldi in the background, also sorry crash wouldn’t be the best description, it doesn’t crash but the program can’t be used at all, like i can access tools, configuration, but the instant the mouse is in the canvas the entire screen glitches, and last, yes my version was outdated but even with the most recent update the problem doesn’t seem solved

I’d be so curious to see what Krita’s tablet tester would tell you. Have you ever used it? It’s in Settings, Configure Krita, Tablet settings. Look at the bottom of the window and you’ll see it. Make a few strokes, varying pressure and then read the text output. You should see both mouse and stylus events and some of the events should have percents in them (showing pressure).

It could be something entirely different, I’m just curious to know if Krita is getting tablet signals from your operating system and this is the best way to tell.

it says stylus and mouse move in the test, also sorry for the late response

Thanks for doing the test. Hopefully in the tablet test you did, there were also indications that pressure sensitivity is working.

Please open Tablet settings and tell us which Input API setting you have selected in Tablet settings? (there are 2: WinTab and Windows 8+)

Then go into your tablet interface and tell us whether you have Windows Ink on or off for Krita.

I’m asking because the 2 (Krita’s Input API setting AND your tablet’s interface) have to agree on whether or not to use Windows Ink.

If it’s caused by entering the canvas, maybe it’s related to the GPU canvas. What settings are you using under Display->Canvas Acceleration? You might try turning it off.

In krita i have it configured in wintab and in my wacom tablet properties it says windows ink is on

Canvas acceleration is on with direct3d, bilinear filtering, texture buffer on and large pixmap cache on

@alad That’s a problem.

If Windows Ink is not selected in Krita, you cannot have Windows Ink turned on in Wacom. Unselect Windows Ink in Wacom then restart your device and start Krita. See if that clears it up.

@sooz I’m itching to write a pdf document titled “So, your graphics tablet won’t work with krita - let’s talk about that.”
Drawing on all my limited reserves of common sense helps to stop me doing that whenever the itch starts.

I will comeback if the issue still persists, but still thank you people
