So now I’m having an issue where I can’t use any brushes after using Ctl+T to transform a layer. I can select any and all of the brushes, but when I try to use them, it just tries to transform the layer again. Layer type is normal, I’ve pressed “Enter” every time I click on anything in the layer because it thinks I want to “transform” it again. Can’t find anything in settings, tools, select, nowhere that I can see/find to try to fix this. Please help?
Ctrl+T selects the Transform Tool for use.
You need to select the Freehand Brush Tool (B) when you’ve finished using the transform tool.
Notice the highlighted icon in the Toolbox.
Perhaps you want to take a look in the corresponding part of the Krita Manual?
and this part was an interesting reading, at least for me.

When did that become a thing?! I’ve never had to do that before. Is that something I can change in settings?
When did what exactly become a thing? This behaves like that as far as I can think back.
And, yes, there are a lot of things that can be changed in the settings, it just seems to me that we are communicating past each other.
The question is, what exactly do you want to change in the settings? That the key combination CTRL + T should perform a different action, or do you want to reassign the “Freehand Brush Tool” B?
If so, keyboard shortcuts can be changed under “Settings” >> “Configure Krita” >> “Keyboard Shortcuts”, or under “Settings” >> “Configure Krita” >> “Canvas Input Settings” if that’s what you’re looking for.
What caused you to wonder so much about this key combination before? Is it possible that you are wrong in the keyboard shortcut, or have you possibly already done something similar with other software and now believe this must be the case here in Krita? Do you perhaps mix the capabilities of different software?
Or what did you expect, would this feature do, or what did you want to achieve with it?
It is the case that if you choose another tool instead of a brush, which you have done with CTRL + T, this tool will be active until you select another tool, e.g. a brush with B.
As I said, I don’t remember this ever being any different.

It’s always been like this. Any tool stays active until another one is activated, not only the transform tool. I can’t remember it ever being different.
