I learned a ton from my Richard Schmid study, so I decided to try a study from another artist I love: Caravaggio!
I originally planned just to roughly block in the pieces of the composition, especially focusing on value contrast… but I wound up noodling around and getting more detailed in some areas. Other areas (like a lot of the figure itself) I just left blocked in with blobby half-accurate color notes, haha.
Either way, it was fun and I learned a lot!
