I’ve drawn this for a friend, it’s one of her characters! I tried myself at a background once more, and did my best keeping all the advice from my previous topic in mind. I actually really like the way it turned out, especially the patterns on the wall.

Thank you! It’s nice to know that drawing all the white and blue stripes by hand paid off

I see it’s been a while since this was posted, but I’m curious—did you end up refining the design or sticking with the bold colors? I’d love to see any updates. Also, have you tried using color dodge or overlay layers to add some lighting effects? It can help sell the glow and atmosphere if that’s what you’re going for.

I haven’t had any plans on changing anything about this specific artwork, I really liked it! But I appreciate your thoughts on it, I do actually use overlay layers over all my art to help emphasise light and dark and add some slight colour overlay. Here specifically I used multiply and overlay. (Or were you maybe referring to another post?)

That’s really cool—backgrounds with patterns can totally bring a piece to life. Once, I got hooked on some lottery apps from metronomecanada.com, which made waiting around for ideas a bit more fun. It’s like those little details, whether in art or apps, that make things stand out.
