Change keyboard modifiers? + issues with Selection shortcuts

Hi all, new to Krita, tentatively considering switching from my beloved SAI. I’m having a lot of trouble setting Krita up though. One of my issues is I want to change the keyboard ,cmodifiers, e.g., pressing Ctrl to bring up the color picker while using the brush tool. In “keyboard shortcuts” I can change the shortcut to actually switch entirely to the color picker tool, but not the keybind that only switches to it for while I’m pressing the key. How do I change the modifiers?

I’m also having some trouble with other shortcuts + modifiers.

  1. I would like to set up a modifier for the hand/pan tool so that I can use that without having to manually select brush tool again afterward.

  2. I tried to set “esc” instead of Ctrl+shift+A as my deselect all shortcut. But it only works if I have the square selection tool active. It doesn’t work with, for instance, the freehand/lasso selection tool, or if I have any other tool active, such as the brush tool.

For historical reasons, there are two places where you can setup the keyboard shortcuts. Actions (things you can place on a toolbar or in a menu) are in settings->configure krita->shortcuts. Tool and canvas related shortcuts are in settings->configure krita->Canvas Input Settings.

Krita isn’t capable, currently, of detecting overlapping shortcuts between the two systems.

The issue with the Esc key is because some selection tools already use Esc to cancel the creation process of the selection. (This might be hard-coded, I’d have to look into the code to figure that out

I am also new to Krita!
