Description: Charcoal portrait depicting the three-quarter profile of a young woman wearing glasses.
Amazing, looks natural, What is your favorite brush for Hair and for smudging?
Hi @Joseiby_Tapia,
In my charcoal drawings, I mainly use brushes that I have created myself. Blending charcoal digitally is a problem because it tends to look unconvincing, too uniform for my taste. So, to get around this problem, I like to create a layer above which I apply a texture to recreate the typical grain you see in traditional charcoal drawings. For this drawing, I used a texture called Ch_Comp NewsP_01, setting the blending mode to Overlay and the Opacity to 33%.
Thanks sounds complex for me that just want to draw, I agree with the smudgind however I think its well managed or handed with the finger smudging brush, yes it destroy the texture from the brush but later we can add few softer strokes to get the texture back again,
At the beggining I was doing something like this, but “manually” lets say..
I was using another layer with lower opacity to create texture without caring for the streght of the stroke, but really looks like more work to me, I havent take the time to explore another modes for the layer other than normal, and lowering the opacity, Maybe later I will take this more seriously for now I just use layer for when I draw or paint something that need to change later or a background.
I agree with you, the approach to the programme must be gradual. At the beginning, what matters is drawing, so as to become familiar with the interface and the various tools. Subsequently, curiosity to explore and experiment will arise, and then new creative horizons will open up.
I prefer just draw, and be happy, but I understand that Digital its not traditional. however Im not intrested in learning alot of those stuff. thank you. Great portrait
