Chun Li - Street Fighter Fanart, P.2024064

Was wondering if I can do fixes without having to draw lines. Turns out I can do it if I did the similar process of flat color blocking I did when I practice drawing rocks and bushes.

The lines are necessary as guides for the adjustment area but If I just block it with flat color I can do the same. Also It is only necessary to do the the majority of fixes inside the area, the border only need to be cleaned when all adjacent area is already cleaned hence a thicker line is enough as border marker.

In the end of the cleaning process I can just carved the lines to thin it out so it will looks like a lineart. I love the looks of artstyle that has lines but I hate the typical process of drawing one.

Anyway, around 6 hours worktime in a day. Some part isn’t cleaned up yet but I decide I need to focus on work for the weekend so I leave it as it is.

Btw what I write is a study note for me, you might want it treat it just as reference of other artist process. I do bunch of weird stuff when drawing .

The practice of “fixing up” the image on the very top by covering parts of it with opaque paint is definitely a thing, perhaps it’s even common among the professionals. I saw it at least with a few Japanese illustrators. Usually, it’s used to give more impact to important areas like the eyes and the face.

@YRH My process definitely closer to traditional process. But not gonna lie, during the early period when I start learning digital I kinda felt being left out of process discussion since everyone practiced using the manga/anime process. But this was way back when google hangout still exist, most tutorials using Photoshop and for anime style. In the art circle I was in, I think I was the only one that studied Proko’s videos lol.

@Santiago_Garcia Thank you very much!

@KRITAKOUGAR Thank you! hopefully I can improve more on the process that I am using, since it’s a bit sad that I use digital medium without taking advantages of its features.
