CMYK Soft Proofing doesn't work

Hello everyone. The Soft Proofing option doesn’t work. Is there something I am doing wrong? I have attached some images below.

Right now I’m using the Convert to CMYK property to view how things would look, since Soft Proofing does nothing

do you have a target profile set? Can you show a screenshot of Image > Properties and Soft proofing tab?

I have tried with Grayscale Soft Proofing to see if the problem was with CMYK, but that option doesn’t work either.

Hello @cat_938376 and welcome to the forum

Which version of krita are you using and where did you get it from?
Which version of Windows are you using?

Your Imgur hosted image seems to be mostly in gamut for CMYK.
The image with softproofing on has slightly darker and less saturated yellow.
I’d suggest trying some blues and purples to test the softproofing to CMYK from 8-bit RGB/A.

I have version 5.2.2 running on Windows 11 and the Ctrl+Y softproofing toggle works for CMYK and Greyscale.

Hello,
I’m using 5.2.2 and I downloaded it from krita.org.
I have Windows 10.

If the option doesn’t work, is using Image > Convert Image Colour Space > CMYK the same as the Soft Proofing option?

Using Convert Image Colour Space gives the same visual effect as softproofing but then your document would be using the CMYK colour space which is a bad idea for various reasons.
You could then immediately use Edit → Undo to go back to RGB/A but it’s a drastic way of doing things.

Are you using Ctrl+Y to toggle softproofing on and off?

Have you tried CMYK softproofing with blue and purple colours or any highly saturated RBG colour is in the image?

As far as I know, nobody has reported that Ctrl+Y softproofing doesn’t work and it’s working fine for me for CMYK and Greyscale.

Can you post a fullscreen screenshot of your entire krita window, including the status bar along the bottom?

Do not use “Chemical proof”
It’s not a good color profile for CMYK conversion.

If you absolutely want to manage CMYK conversion by yourself, use the color profile expected by the printer (your print shop must be able to tell you which one to use)

After, why the soft proofing doesn’t work on your side it’s hard to say, tested on my side I can see difference on document with and without softproofing (with “Chemical proof”) but it should be easier to see it on a document with saturated colors like this one:

Activate soft proofing in this document, do you a see a difference?

I found out why this was happening. I had disabled Canvas Graphics Acceleration, as having it enabled made Krita run too slow. For some good reason, when I activate it now it doesn’t go as slow as before
