I’m back at it again with trying to make brushes, this time halftone brushes.
A few months ago, I got an ipad and got my hands on Retrosupply’s ColorLab brushes, and I’ve a lot of fun with them when making art and comics. I feel like Krita deserves its own version of ColorLab, which is why I’m trying to make a nice set of halftone brushes based on the CYMK color system.
Unfortunately, I’m having a lot of trouble doing this, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to achieve what I’m after? I used some textures of the CL brushes a friend gave me a long time ago, but I’m having trouble figuring out how to make them blend properly.
I’m gonna share a comparison. Picture A is of the brushes I used in Krita, (“Yellow 20%” and “Red 20%”) The second picture is of ColorLab brushes. (“Y2” and “R2”)
I think my issue might lay with the sizes of the textures, as they’re all suppose to be the same size in order to blend. Maybe that won’t work with Krita’s system? I’m not sure. If anyone has any advice on how to make nice halftone brushes, please let me know. I’m open to anything.
Yeah, what you’re showing is more what I’m aiming for.
The brushes are suppose to blend on top of each other with different layers, and you’re suppose to be able to get a variety of color combinations by following CMYK specific color charts.
I’ve been using multiply in Krita so maybe I should try Binary instead. It’s worth a shot!
