Comparing software

I was comparing krita to corel painter and I noticed a difference in the color rings and also in the way colors mix with smudgy brushes.

funny enough, IMO Krita has a more ‘natural’ color ring, but I do love the way in which Painter brushes smudge so… ehm… ‘messy’?
That being the only great thing about it, I wonder if any of you experienced brushmakers can mimic this delightfull mess in krita. I assume hue and value are involved, as well as the option to ‘create mask from colour’.

This is not a straight question, just want to learn and open a conversation.
But please, do feel challenged with the brush engine comparison!

About color rings. I think Krita has enough power here

I think you refer to the Bristle control. Krita doesn’t manage that in the same way. But we can use whatever brushtip and expect “similar” results. What do you think about this? Easy as this.

by the way what brush have you used for your image. I own also corel Painter 2020 so i can test it.

testing brush
Maybe not the best way to show results but here we go. Testing converting one of the brushtip shapes you show in the image into a brush
