Contiguous Selection Tool

Contiguous Selection Tool seams to act strange for a beginner like me, compare to the other selection tools there they deleted everything into the selected area as expected. Contiguous Selection Tool fade out horizontally with the color in the area when i used delete. It was not so obvious to me why I didn’t made it. I look around and found huge amount of tutorials there it was explained how to erase, but not erase everything with delete in the box. Maybe it could be inverted default to the tools/checkbox, in the future there i finally found it as anti-aliasing. ( help files to) Kindly regards!

Hello @FreeCaddare and welcome to the forum

You haven’t shown a screenshot to explain what is happening and what effects you are having.

Depending on the image you were using, it may be the ‘Spread’ value that is affecting the amount of erasing that you are seeing.

More details and examples of the effects of ‘Spread’ are shown here:

I think that Spread should be set to 100% for your purposes.
Anti-aliasing only has an effect at the edges of a selection.

Hi AhabGreybeard and thanks for the advice!
I manage my screenshot and try to visible explain my circumstances.
Kindly regards!

You’re using an old version of krita. Also, you don’t show the original image before selection and painting/erasing.
I’d recommend that you download and use the 5.1.5 appimage from here:
Krita Desktop | Krita
Remember to give it execution permissions after you’ve downloaded it.

Here is the Tool Options docker for that:

I think there was a problem with the anti-aliasing setting in the old versions.

In current versions of Krita like 5.1.5, the current anti-aliasing setting acts more like you would expect. 0% spread is equivalent to the old anti-aliasing setting, which would vary the opacity of the fill depending on color similarity, which is kinda advanced/specific behavior.
