Converting a layer to reference and back?

Hi

Does anyone know of an easy way to convert a layer to a reference and back when needed? Maybe there is a plugin for it?

With a layer selected in the Layers docker, you can do Edit → Cut , then Edit → Paste as Reference Image.

Using the Reference Images tool, select a reference image and do Edit → Copy, then switch to the Freehand Brush tool, then select a layer in the Layers docker, then do Edit → Paste and you will have the previously selected reference image as a pasted image in a new layer with the Transform tool active on it. Transform it, or do nothing, then press Return and switch to the Freehand Brush tool to carry on painting.

If you Export them as a reference images set using the Tool Options docker then you can externally extract them, from the .krf file (which is a .zip file) as .png images.

Thanks but I am looking for a more integrated solution as in convert to layer , convert to reference type thing. Copy pasting method is just a workaround, regardless thanks for the answer…

You need to make a Feature Request topic and explain what you would like with a description of the user process and where the facility appears.
