Creating a new image crashes Krita 4.4.1 immediately on macOS 10.15.7

I am currently on macOS 10.15.7, and I just updated Krita to 4.4.1 from 4.3.
Clicking “New File” and then clicking “Create” immediately crashes Krita. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Here is the full backtrace: https://pastebin.com/mD9tVAgT

After downgrading to 4.4.0.1, the problem seems to persist. Also before this my computer crashed… Idk if this has anything to do with it, but probably not.

Downgrading to 4.3 fixes the problem. Another interesting small thing I noticed is that it asked for permissions on certain folders again (e.g. Documents); this didn’t happen with 4.4.1 => 4.4.0.1. Might just be an artifact from the version difference.

The crash happens in the opengl code, specifically when krita tries to draw a grid. On my macbook pro M1 I don’t seen this crash if I enabled a grid. Can you try to reset Krita’s settings and check with 4.4.2-beta1 ? (https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#resetting-krita-configuration and https://krita.org/en/item/first-beta-of-krita-4-4-2/ ?

Which mac do you have, which version of macos and which GPU does your mac have?

I am running Krita on a MacBook Pro 2018 (w/ macOS 10.15.7) with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB.

Now that you’ve mentioned it… I am currently working on pixel art for a game and have Krita setup for pixel art with grids and everything; the image size that I was trying to create was 32x32(resolution 100), which means that the grid is shown immediately after creation (with my current configuration on Krita 4.3). With this, Krita 4.4.1 crashes after creation.

But if I make an image at 100x100(resolution 100), Krita 4.4.1 doesn’t seem to crash. I can also zoom in until the grid is visible and it still won’t crash.

I have tried everything again with Krita 4.4.2-beta1, and everything seems to be the same. As well, resetting the config removes the problem.

My config:

Yes, with those settings, I can reproduce the crash. It’s really specific to macOS, on Linux/X11 it doesn’t happen. Haven’t checked windows yet.
