The blending is certainly rough, and so is my process. feedback would be appreciated.

…Of course, I notice all of the mistakes as soon as I post this… Revised version will be in here maybe.

Use images whose origin and exploitation rights, such as copyright, reproduction rights, intellectual property, are not in most cases at least highly questionable?

By the way, the list is constantly growing. Just search for free stock photos, royalty-free photos, CC0-licensed photos, etc., and you will come across more and more websites that offer images that can be used without the high risk of infringing the rights of others.

Thank you @Someonesane for helping me figure out how to draw hair. Process is still rough but I am happy with the overall art

Revised version… How do you guys deal with the hair and all of the small details!? :face_with_spiral_eyes: I’m trying to find my drawing style, but does anyone know what this style is called?

Call it whatever you want, it’s yours. I have no doubt it’ll change over time as you gain experience. There’s several manga comics where the author draws the same character differently in the beginning than towards the end.

Or like some, they stick to… stick figures in their comics and are pretty successful at it too.

Slightly unfished…
I tried to make a hyperlapse but I didn’t start it :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

May I ask, are you using only a mouse to paint these? No graphics tablet?

Actually, I use a stylus on my touchscreen computer

Hmmm. Better than a mouse but still no pressure.

I was asking because you asked how to paint hair. A lot of ways that hair is digitally painted required pen pressure to work. A mouse doesn’t provide that, nor do a stylus.

I have done digital painting with a mouse before and the lack of pressure does limits what you can do (along with the inaccuracy). You either have to forgo doing very detailed work and go with styles that is more easy to do with the limitation, like a graphic style (say a cartoon) or impressionistic; or do detailed work very slowly using workarounds.

Yes. I might look into getting a new stylus that actually has pressure, because I am noticing that lots of brushes in krita would be better with that.

You could still do great work without pressure. You can even do realistic but it would take more time and effort.

I remembered to record hyperlapse this time! My process is messy, you can see where I erase and redo lots of features in the face.

Sort of finished!

Still trying to find my style. Usually I see this one on paper. Also, here is my color pallete that I refer to a lot, especially for the skin color because I don’t trust myself to mix it.

Can’t find the person who posted it, but one said Illiana?

All the skin I draw looks too smooth!

Erasing and redoing parts of the painting/drawing is normal. No problem at all. Though, I see some anatomical errors. Sure, this is highly stylized but it does try to follow the basic human anatomy so you might actually want them to be more accurate. I could teach you some basic facial anatomy tips to help you if you want.

You would soon develop a style of your own as you keep painting or even develop and use a variety of styles. I myself doesn’t have a consistent style.

As for skin color, there is not single “skin color” as skin colors varies a lot per individual. And even if you just want a generic light skin color, it would still depend on context like lighting or effects. And of course, there are art styles that deliberately uses unrealistic colors like blue or bright pink.

As for the skin being too smooth, well, it seems to be because of these two things: 1) you blend too much 2) the anatomy is too rounded/lacks detail.

Yeah… anatomy and proportions are definently something that is difficult for me. I like drawing portraits a lot, so any anatomy tips there would be great.
