Custom brushes only producing circles or spots

Hello,

I’m using some custom brushes, but when I use them, they are not producing the correct outcome. for example, I’m using this tree brush, which is supposed to produce tree shapes. It instead just makes a bunch of circles as you can see in my screenshot.

It will do this with many, but not all, of my custom brushes. It seems to be a default shape that Krita uses if it does not understand what to do. There is a problem with my brushes, but I don’t know how to solve this.

I’m using Krita 5.0.2 through Steam, which is automatically updated. The custom brush I’m trying to use is from this DeviantArt upload. I’m using a Cintiq 24 pro drawing tablet with updated drivers.

Please help me if you know anything about this, thank you!

 Hello @ITA and welcome to the forum!

That is a known issue, but easy to solve. Open “Manage Resources” in “Settings”, click on “Open Resource Folder” and an Explorer window opens up. In this window open the folder named “brushes” and after that open the folders “Environments 2.0 Brushtips” & “Environment Brushes - classic Brushtips” select all the files in these folders and move them directly into the folder “brushes” per drag and drop onto the folder “brushes” you can find in the address-bar of this Explorer window. In the following screenshot for a different brush-set, you can see where to drop these files. After that restart Krita, and your brushes will work.

Hi Michelist,

I followed the steps you provided and it worked for me! Thank you so very much for your help! I will save this for my documentation if I run into the problem again in the future. Thank you again!
