Do we have brushes to emulate these oil painting masters?

[Topic moved to new thread by moderator]

Hi @RamonM,

I don’t know if this goes here, but I would like to request oil painting brushes.

I have tried DA Oil 11 Rake Wet and DA Oil 12 Color Fade from the Digital Atelier set to try and get a similar blend, with the Oil Template 1 as the canvas, but I have not been able to.

When I use other brushes, like from the i) brush presets, the blend looks very digital and not like a smooth oil.

Currently, the brushes that I’ve used to more closely achieve the look has been the ART 4 I Bristle Loaded oil1 from Wayne Parker’s ArtMessiah and I use that same brush with Color Rate turned off to blend the paint, and the ART 5 D Gouache Hard for details that are later blended with ART 4 H Smooth Loaded oil.

I use the Oil Template 1 for my painting, starting in the green layer that says “Paint Sketch Here”, then “Under color”, and then details in the orange layer “Paint here for Overlay mode”.

These are my favorite artists that I’m trying to emulate their styles digitally, even though I don’t know if this is possible. I’m attempting to emulate the blending on Time’s shoulder and chest, the subtle changes in color that blend beautifully together but without it looking overly blended, digitally.

I am unsure if it is a texture in the brushes or in the canvas that may help for the blending to look more like a smooth oil paint.

Thank you for your time and the wonderful work you do for the Krita Community. I’m always waiting for a new video or resources from you, since I love your work and dedication.

@LaTor, I’ve removed the images you posted because uploading them here is against the Code of Conduct of the forum: FAQ - Krita Artists

8. Post Only Your Own Stuff

You may not post anything that belongs to someone else without permission. The exception is reference images, in which case every attempt should be made to credit the artist or photographer by name. In all cases a link to the image owner’s website must be included.

You can post links to the source of those images if you wish.

If the website concerned has made those images 'CC or ‘free for use’ then you can upload them but the link to the website must indicate that they are CC or ‘free for use’.

Also, a ‘NSFW’ warning must be added just before any link to those images since they were NSFW according to the Terms of Service: Terms of Service - Krita Artists

A problem with the miniatures you posted is the fact that the strokes can not be perceived. So you can try the Memileo Impasto Brushes, or try the iForce73 Experimental Oils for Krita you can find on DA, Memileo are more impressive, but it may be that those from iForce73 are more what you are looking for, but they are by far not so elaborate than those from @emilm. Another set containing a few oil presets among many other presets is @Ico-dY’s “Expansion” Pack for Krita 5.x.

Edit: Adapted the post to reflect the changes happened to a bundle.

Hi there,
the images you posted were deleted, so I ask for clarification: Are you talking about the look of the digital paintings of the fantasy artist Wayne Parker which he made with Krita? (He works traditional, possibly with oils and airbrush, and digital with Krita, PS and Procreate, as far as I’m informed).

WayneParker, whoever may be behind this nickname, was the creator of the Artmessiah brush set for Krita (link to this set in my cloud) and also paints pictures from the fantasy genre. That set contains not only brushes from that WayneParker, as he stated, and it is what the above text spoke about when it comes to WayneParker - brushes.

The removed pictures were from “old masters” like Rubens, Vermeer and “friends”.
