Do you have any background artist that inspires you?

Hello, I have a folder in which I put any drawing or piece that gives me ideas but recently I’ve felt the need to get to know more artists so, I wanted to expand my horizons by asking what you guys like. TT
I personally enjoy Ed Mell’s pieces, he is one of my biggest inspirations.

What are your inspirations/favorite background/landscape artists?

Are you looking for more contemporary painters or any painter? It looks like you definitely like the handling of light in landscape - have you checked out Hudson river school painters - Bierstadt, Church, Whittredge, etc.?

That first three that spring to mind are Jordan Grimmer, Raphael Lacoste and Jeremy Fenske.

I was looking for Traditional Artists mainly but I thought that maybe more variety could bring a more interesting discussion to the forum. ^^ I wanted to know what people in the forum like in general too hehe

You’ve definitely nailed my likes there XD I haven’t heard of the “Hudson River School” until now and not gonna lie, there’s lots of talent!

(Frederic Edwin Church)
I have something for dramatic lighting and the golden hour, this came in handy for me. : ) It looks like the HRS is full of that, it definitely does live to its Renaissance influence.
My other two inspirations are John William Casilear (I’m not sure if he took part in that artistic movement you’ve mentioned but it kinda looks like it) and Ivan Bilibin.

Jordan has been in my web browser’s bookmark, I’ve watched his videos and guidance and he is really helpful! Although I haven’t heard of the others before, their galleries are amazing, you definitely have good likes. I love how detailed Lacoste’s work is and how nature-looking most of Fenske’s art is : )

Overall it might be a good idea to just head over to Artstation and set the filters to “Digital 2D” and/or “Traditional Paint” and then select the category “Environmental Concept Art & Design”. Lots of inspirational stuff will fly your way.
