As I was taking photos of my dog, Jodi, lying in the sunlight, a small butterfly suddenly landed in front of her and she looked down at it. I snapped the shot and liked it so much I had to paint it.

Thank you! I am still fairly new to digital art myself. I was, and still am, intimidated by some of the better artists’ work on display here. But I just keep trying to learn from them and work on finding a comfortable style of my own that I like and go for it. Painting something quickly every day helps a lot. Outstanding brushwork. Fresh and crisp capture of light and shadow with simple brushstrokes. The scene have that little extra too. I love dogs.

My experience is that focusing too much on technique will cloud your heart and soul.
