This sword looks like a prophecy. It seems to have been prophesied to the dragon that a cutting experience will soon transform him into an X-piece dragon puzzle.

We don’t really see it, but she has a pauldron (I don’t know if it is the right name, a protection on her shoulder) on her right shoulder (but I know it is very much invisible. 
)
