Picking the right reflective light hue kicked my butt on this one. However, I was happy about he cast shadow and the half tones. Now if I can only do a better job capturing the shape in the 30 min time limit.
I purposefully select “simple” subjects to work in the time limit but complicated or not I still find things I want to work on when the alarm goes off. But I think that’s the point. As long as you can reflect and identify what you need to improve on, progress can be made.
The unexpected ways light moves through translucent objects. When I see objects like these in everyday life my brain quickly dismisses it as a gummy. But it’s not until you have to distill it into a drawing that you begin to understand why your brain see’s it as a translucent object. Lots of fun.
With the 30 min time limit I was happy with the armor but the face is always a challenge, in a good way. These exercises are helping me better understand how to break down facial features into simpler shapes and planes. Plus the added benefit of experimenting with hues and saturation.
