This is so pretty! I love how well you depicted the depth and textures of the moon! The silhouette of plants in the foreground makes this even prettier. I like the slight opacity changes to it so it feels like the glow of the moon reflects on the leaves. I think the star shapes made of lines on the moon are so charming. This really depicts how the moon is a gem of the sky people gaze at in the night

Thank you so much for the warm comments! Unfortunately, it wasn’t nearly as colorful in my mind when I made them. I was just considering how material is thrown out of the ground when the crater is formed. I think they’re called rays. To me, the best part of art is how two people can look at the exact same thing and derive completely different meanings.

The brush I used for this is the “Snirkel” out of the Rakurri Brush Set, V2.0 Bundle, by @Rakurri

A more complicated still life this time. With so many subjects, it was hard to get down what I wanted in the 30 min limit.

Just a couple of cherries getting board as they hold still from my speed paint.

Tried the default soft chalk on this one. It has a nice effect but it was easy to overdo it. Need some more practice.

The bear is amazing.

More default soft chalk. A bit off on the dimensions but I think the color is coming along, which I guess is the point with speed paints.

All of them have a 30 min time limit.

The bulkiness of the soft chalk really forces me to un-focus my eyes on the subject to ascertain the overall values and not get too caught up in the details. It helps with other work. Especially if i need to make corrections, it’s much easier to change something that was quickly made than something with a lot of detail.

I found semi translucent objects present a different challenge than opaque ones. Not only do I have to worry about the color choices but the order I lay it down makes a difference too.

In any case, saving the highlights for the end is like getting dessert after a meal. Very satisfying.
