I think it needs the Background layer to be turned on because some filters don’t work well with transparency. Please try that to see what it then looks like.
Oh yes, i missed that, sorry.
Which version of krita are you using? (Please say 5.1.5.)
Your screenshot doesn’t show the status bar.
What colour profile and bit depth is the image?
It does look like a bug on your Android tablet but I don’t have this problem on my Chromebook.
I know that @CrazyCatBird and @sooz (and others) have Android tablets so it would be useful to find out if they also have this problem before creating a formal bug report.
If you do create a formal bug report at https://bugs.kde.org/ (sign up and login needed) then you’ll need to include the text output of Help → Show system information for bug reports and you could give a link back to this topic for the screenshots.
I suggest that you wait a short time to see what other Android tablet users can say about this and then create a formal bug report if nobody can give you a reason not to.
Thanks for these @CrazyCatBird and @sooz but neither of you have tried using a Filter Layer, according to your screenshots.
If you’ve done a Filter → Edge Detection → Edge Detection then you’ll be filtering just the black circle on a transparent layer and that will have the rectangular content box.
The Filter Layer would take account of the entire composited view looking down, including the Background layer if it’s set to be visible.
So it looks like the problem is with @QbieShay’s tablet/situation, in some way.
On a hunch and a suspicion, I’ve tried some variations and found that I get the same bad result if I have an RGB/A 32-bit-float colour space. Many filters are not coded to handle that.
So. @QbieShay, are you using a 32-bit float colour space?
This is why it’s important to show the status bar in a full screenshot.
Seems like my default for textures is indeed 32 bits! I am not sure how to bring back the status bar. I had followed a tutorial that showed how to better organize dockers for mobile, now i don’t know how to re-enable it anymore sorry
@QbieShay The status bar isn’t something you hide or bring back. It’s at the bottom of your workspace. It displays the name of the current brush, your colour space selections, the dimensions of your canvas and the amount of memory in use. When you captured the screenshot you didn’t include far enough down on the screen.
So you can’t see the status bar on your tablet screen at the bottom?
Do you remember a time when you could see the status bar?
Do View → Full Screen mode: do you see a status bar appear?
Do View → Full Screen Mode again: do you see the status bar appear?
Do View → Show Canvas Only: this will make many things (except for the canvas) vanish: do you see the status bar appear?
Do View → Show Canvas Only again: do you see the stays bar appear?
Re. 32-bit image: When you do File → New, the Create New Document window appears and has the image colour model, bit depth and profile.
Whatever you select there will be remembered for the next time you create a new image.
