Editing .webp crash Krita

Months ago, i’m making video and need to edit some .webp files on windows. And I found editing the image as is would crash krita. I work around this problem by first saving the file to .png file first before editing it.

Considering that I’m able to consistently recreated the problem. So maybe it’s not only “me” problem. Have any of you stumble upon that praticular trouble?

I just checked it with a small batch of WEBP files without issues using Krita 5.2.2 and Windows 10 Pro. Which version of Krita and Windows do you use?

same, win10 and krita 5.2.2
have you tried doing something like this to test it.

Usually krita crash whenever i crop part of a picture like this, making some part transparent. Then If accidentaly saved it as is, the software would crash too.

For me there is no problem to crop via the crop-tool, it is also possible to select a color to remove backgrounds this way and also via GMIC’s tool to remove backgrounds it does not crash.

this is how i reproduce the crash. . .

@lenovoaxioo Can you make the original .webp file available using a file sharing link so that someone can try it doing what you did?

You can use any .webp from the internet. From my test, any .webp image would crash my krita as long i do that (step in the video).
select - > delete selection → save as is.

Well, that crashes my Krita too.
I guess we need a bug-report from you.

Michelist

For a crash on saving .webp, there is a bug report that should be fixed in the nightly builds (and 5.2.3-beta1, which should be released next week).
