Egyptian temple interior

Hi,
I’ve been recently transitioning to Krita from PS and did this piece to try and grasp as much as I could of Krita. It’s not very polished as you guys can see but I like it, especially the light and atmosphere so I wanted to share with you!
I am now trying another type of drawing but I’d be glad to hear your feedbacks on this one

Can you tell us whether you had specific goals in mind? This would allow us to give you more targeted feedback.
Because, as it is now, it’s a coherent style, but your idea of it could be helpful for practicing criticism.
I really like the roughness of this image, as an example, was this the goal?

I’d say I had several goals. First was to translate my style to Krita and see what was feasible (I tried several other softwares but Krita really is the best).
Second goal was the atmosphere. Roughness could be a part of it. To be able to convey something mysterious and frightening.
Then, sharing because I am super NOT confident in my art and want to try more advanced things like harsher perspectives and strong lights to get confidence in my abilities.
Finally to find a way to have my characters anchored into their environments. I focused a lot of my time on environments in my other paintings and I struggle to get characters feel as though they are in and not added over it. I’m still trying out different things. See here for example, I like my environment but my character feels out of it. Maybe not in the same style? Possibly because of the lineart that’s only present on the character?

I don’t paint figuratively myself, but would it be conceivable for you to create your character first and then construct the surrounding scene? Can you imagine mitigating or even eliminating this difficulty in this way? What about trying one or two test-pictures that way?

Nicely done. The texture on the columns fits quite well and adds to the feeling of looking into a vast room.

That’s a good idea. I think it could work. I’ll try this and post the result
