it’s just that the name “Elf Girl” with an L,
was already in use and wouldn’t let me use that name.
And that stroke is the symbol closest to the L
That explains why you often use this special character. I’m glad I asked, as I’ve been wondering about it for a while. Although I would resort to other means myself, it is one way.

There are several more ways, for example inserting a second space between the two words, inserting or adding a punctuation mark such as an exclamation mark, using Leetspeak, using other character sets that also look identical but are read differently by the parser of the forum software, adding or inserting smilies. You can be creative if you want to be and find out what ways there are to write something.
And you could use more creative names that can also be regarded as “trademarks” compared to the often creatively poor titles of some otherwise highly creative creations.
