On my Huion pen tablet, when drawing slowly, moving my whole hand, there’s some inevitable skipping as the side of my hand physically grabs then releases, adding jiggles to the line. I’m sure this is a common problem.
I have a drawing glove, but it still happens. Any trips for reducing this? Thanks.
You may be putting too much pressure on the tablet with your hand. You can try to avoid it by consciously lifting your hand or arm slightly, or almost as if you were about to lift it. This should remove the pressure, but you may have a problem with keeping the line straight and with your arm getting a bit tired.
Honestly, I’m drawing for a few years now and I still have basic problems with controlling my lines. Maybe it just is what it is. Usually, if you really want a perfect smooth line you need to do it in one motion letting go of the fine control, or conversely, if you want precision, you will have to put up with some shakiness in the lines. It’s best to change the technique based on the need.
Lastly, you can explore what stabilizer does for your way of drawing.
EDIT: Ah, and one more tip. If you’re resting your whole hand on the tablet, you can try lifting the side of your hand and only rest your two fingers on the tablet. I tend to do that and it will greatly reduce the friction too. If I don’t need to draw from the shoulder, I rest my elbow on the table to let the arm rest.
One thing I do is rotate the piece to match my better controlled strokes. For instance, as a lefty I do better curves from what would be 1:00 to 5:30, and straight lines are better vertical instead of horizontal.
