Hi
I have the problem that when I use an ellipsis wizard, my brush strokes become angular. What is the reason for this? It doesn’t matter which pin setting I use for it and “Snap to assistant” is enabled.
I use Krita 5.1.5.

Hello @Zhavok and welcome to the forum
Which version of krita are you using and where did you get it from?
Which version of Windows are you using?
Please show a screenshot with the settings in the Tool Options docker.
I can see two possibilities in the screenshots you showed
First, in the Tool Options docker, did you set Magnetism to 1000?
I find that setting to a lower value can give problems.
Here, using a stylus and drawing large ellipses, I have no problems:
Even when drawing small fast ellipses, I see no problems:
Your last upload shows regular ‘segmentation’ of the drawn line.
That is characteristic of a fast curved stroke using a stylus that has a low position reporting rate.
What do you see if you draw tight freehand curves with a fast stroke?
If you see similar segmentation, it’s a limitation of your stylus and its driver software,
like this:
Hi, I use Krita 5.1.5. from the official Krita Website on Windows 10. You can see my Toolsettings on my screenshot. Magnetism is set to 1000. The problem occurs with mouse and with graphics tablet.
Yes, I may need new glasses
With fast strokes, that are drawn much faster than I think anyone would normally draw, I get segmentation with a mouse and with a stylus:
Some of this may be because I have an old and weak computer.
Your first uploaded image shows a very bad loss of snapping.
Even if I do ‘crazy’ movements with the mouse or stylus, I can’t induce a loss of snapping as is shown in your first uploaded image.
Is it possible that you accidentally lifted the stylus from the tablet?
Is this behaviour repeatable in any way?
Does the line segmentation happen at medium or low drawing speeds?
I am unable to replicate loss of snapping that you showed. It’s a mystery to me.
Edit:Add: If I do ‘totally crazy’ movements, such as by rapidly jumping across the ellipse, I can get loss of snapping:
The problem never occurred before. I noticed it today for the first time and I wouldn’t know what setting caused it. If I paint very slowly it is better, but I away. Generally I always paint slowly though, so that shouldn’t be the problem. I do have a resolution of 3000x3000 set at 600ppi, but I have a fast computer and also play games in VR. I think that can not be the problem.
I also don’t leave the tablet with the stylus and as already written I can reproduce the problem with the mouse
Is “snap to pixel” selected? If so, try unchecking that one but leave the other snapping settings on.
Then something has changed and I can’t think what it may be.
Neither would I. I can’t think of anything.
I’d suggest turning off all other snapping options, if any are enabled.
Where can I find a “Snap to pixel” option?
Ok, the problem is fixed, but the cause is not found. My wife said she had the problem several times. Krita restarts did nothing. Suddenly it went back on its own. The computer was not turned off during that time. I don’t know if it has anything to do with this, but I will update the graphics card driver. I guess Krita uses the graphics card to display the image?
Your snapping options are in View > Snap to
@AhabGreybeard suggests you uncheck all the snapping options.
Sometimes people are okay with all snapping on except for Snap Pixel (which leads a lot of Krita users off course).
(edit - fixed typo)
It’s not displaying the image that’s the problem.
Also, I’ve tried it with Canvas Graphics Acceleration disabled and that had no effect on drawing or on appearance.
You could try updating your graphics tablet driver and then remaking its configurations/settings.
(Hello @sooz )
You could also try the version 5.2 Release Candidate. I’d suggest the portable .zip package for Windows:
Krita 5.2 Release Candidate is out! Please help us in another round of testing!
https://download.kde.org/unstable/krita/5.2.0-rc1/krita-x64-5.2.0-rc1.zip
Then see if that improves the situation.
Edit:Add:
Are you running another demanding application, such as transcoding a large video in the background as you work with krita?
Did you disable the stabilizer setting when drawing? I had problems with the assistant tools when the stabilizer was enabled.
All snapfunctions in the menu are disabled. No, Krita is the only Software that runs and my wife said sometimes it is better without stabilizer but today any option had the problem
It sounds like the problem hasn’t actually been solved ?
Please try the 5.2 Release Candidate as I suggested earlier.
Running the portable .zip package will not affect your 5.1.5 installation but it will share the same configuration settings and resources of your existing installed version.
