Equirectangular Tool

Equirectangular Perspectives seems to be good way to draw and create scenes for VR or 360 in general. Although it may be a niche tool as it is only used for VR or 360 images, it can be quite helpful, nonetheless.

A similar alternative is a Mesh Preset known as “Spherical Panorama” is Adobe Photoshop. Here is the link on a how it is used: 360 Pano Painting Tutorial with Jama Jurabaev (youtube.com)

Equirectangular Perspective Grids helps me to create scenes for 360 images but with the template only, I don’t have much flexibility on utilizing it as I want to. Here is a example that I did using the Equirectangular Template I’ve gotten online.

The tool could have flexibility on how to create parallel objects using grid as well as having more independence on how we can utilize it based on our project needs. I am not very proficient in the mathematics and geometry behind this tool but I have learned majority of equirectangular perspectives from the following professor and Ph.D in Mathematics below:

Simply put, this is more like a 360 fisheye tool which is pretty cool and helpful for creating unique 360 image with ease although challenging.

Hey, you can vote for your request at the top left

Also, I have made a similar post here: Perspective Tool Upgrade

Maybe you could add a link to your post from there, and vote if you like the feature. Just increases the chances a dev will decide to invest time into the perspective tool.

Thanks!

Please do review both feature requests. If they are basically the same, we need to merge them as we cannot have two requests for the same feature.

I am not sure if it is the same request.
@aaribear correct me if I am wrong, but this would be the same as having 5 fisheye vanishing points in a row with overlap on the edges. As well as having the two side fisheye vanishing points cut in half.
Is this correct?

It would only be difficult to do currently because it would be hard to space them correctly. Unless you had snapping options for the vanishing points which is also what i have suggested. But once you have done this once you could save it as a preset.

Hello, Fisheye points are done for creating images with 180 degrees or sometimes more causing that curve effect in images. Whereas the tool I am asking to implement is more for projecting 360-degree images or more of panoramic view. Therefore, the request is not the same.

I have tried using Multiple Fish Eye assistants but it doesn’t give the flexibility as needed. Using just the base template for Equirectangular Perspective seems to be much easier.

For more understanding, I would recommend checking out the following Youtuber (I’ve sent this link initially as well) for more in depth of how equirectangular perspective works as well as the tool.
