So I’m not sure why but the eraser is not erasing I I’ve made a few changes to a couple of brushes and they work fine other brushes that do inking work fine but the eraser is the only thing not doing its job.
That’s fine. We can watch it on YouTube. Do tell us which brush preset you’re using, too. And please be sure we can see the entire workspace, including the status bar at the bottom and your dockers.
It looks like you have made your strokes on one layer but you’re using the eraser on the layer above. Try keeping the painted layer active and erase from there.
No I showed you the image is on the background layer then switched to paint layer 1 to draw the line and erase the line I just drew. Sorry that wasn’t clear with what I did but that is what is occurring there.
@sooz You can see the blending mode on the top of the screen. Everything seems in order.
Now what is happening, let me ask the same thing Sooz asked
What I get from your video is: apparently your eraser size goes to a 1 pixel or less in size. This is appear to be the case because the brush outline goes from a reasonable size, to nothing when you start the stroke.
On another note: Does your pen pressure is working without issues?
Um I do not believe I have changed anything with the eraser I only modified the 2 brushes with custom icons … wait no I did shrink the smaller eraser from 50 to what you see. As for the shrinking brush when I move it, I thought that was normal since that is how it’s always acted from download. Is there a setting I should check to make sure it’s set how it should be? Also please keep in mind this is the mobile app on a Samsung tablet not the usual device like a PC or drawing tablet like a Wacom.
Oh and my device sadly has no pressure sensitivity or the ability to use an S pen or any other kind of active stylus. I got this tablet because it was newer than the tab A7 only to find out even the tab A7 lite has S pen and pressure sensitivity smh!
I’m much more comfortable with the Windows and Linux versions but do have Krita 5.1 loaded on a tablet. I just tried to make the eraser work with a tiny pixel setting. When I reduce the eraser to less than 7 pixels, there doesn’t seem to be any erasing. That aligns with what I know about most Krita brushes – each has a minimum setting beyond which they won’t function. There are brushes that work at very low settings (the pixel art brush, for instance). You can make that brush erase by touching the eraser icon at the top of the screen.
@sooz so all last night I went poking around I can’t find anything in the Krita app I might have changed to reduce the value of brush sizes. Would you happen to know which menu I might find brush preset size in?
Here are two places:
At the top of your screen there is a slider with the word “size” on it. Using your stylus or finger you can adjust the size smaller or larger. This adjustment will stay on each brush until you close Krita.
Or you can use the brush editor icon at the top of the screen. When the brush editor opens, look to the column at the left and highlight “brush tip.” The size slider will be closer to the middle of the screen. Your brush preset will retain this size each time you use that particular brush and it will reset to the default size when you close Krita. If you prefer, you can keep the new brush size by tapping either “save new brush preset” (you’ll need a new name) or “overwrite brush set.”
@sooz, according to the video, the eraser is up to 10 times larger than the brushes used.
By what I can see in the video, it is not the diameter of the eraser, which is, with its 50 pixels, significantly larger than the brushes in use. And it does not reduce its size in the toolbar while it is used, and snaps not back after the stroke. Why it behaves so when erasing is a mystery to me, let’s hear what the responsible developer @sh-zam has to say about it. @Volkhvy: It may take a few days for sh-zam to get back to you, since it’s the weekend, please don’t get impatient.
A strange bug, indeed! Has this been happening since the version 5.1.0 or has it happened earlier as well? If yes (has been happening since 5.1.0), can you try resetting the Canvas Input Settings?
@sh-zam I’ve only just started using the android Krita in the past week or so. I have reset the whole app (cleared cache and storage) and things now all work … But that just means one or more of the settings messed it up and unfortunately idk what ones I changed so I’m not sure how to show you to repeat it if it’s a bug.
So having reset everything, things are pretty much working I’m just afraid to change any settings now lol and since no one is making videos for the android app I’m kinda at a loss as to arranging things for my tablet. Any suggestions?
