I am very new to Krita and maybe a bit impatient (sorry) and therefore ask this question.
First of all I use Krita 5.1.3 on Windows 10 64-bits and want to edit my Canon photo’s from RAW (CR2 file). The RAW image does contain all the Exif data. But for some reason I’m not able to save this from Krita. The saved jpeg (jpg) file does not contain any data. I also check with IrFanView with Exif enabled and no data there. If I load the CR2 image into Krita and check the “Document Information” there is also nothing there. Could this be the problem? And how to solve this if there is any?
PS … when saved I enabled these option under Metadata: Exif, IPTC, Store Document Metadata and Sign with Author Profile Data.
If you open a .jpg with EXIF data in it then edit it then Export it, the EXIF data is preserved.
I don’t know why it’s not preseved for you with a RAW CR2 file.
GIMP will show metadata and let you edit various metadata but not the EXIF data for some reason.
You can view the Exif data under Layer>Edit metadata… to verify whether Krita is importing the metadata. If there’s nothing there, that would be the problem.
And if there is something there, then exporting is the problem.
Just check … loaded CR2 file and no Exif data via Layer/Edit metadata
Loaded a jpg file with Exif, and all data is there.
So it seems it cannot do this with CR2 files?
Or Exif data gets lost at conversion?
For an opened .cr2 file that is then Exported as .jpg, the EXIF data for a particular parameter is only included if that parameter has been edited by Layer → Edit Metadata.
That does seem like a bug report is needed at: https://bugs.kde.org/ (Sign up and sign in are needed.)
