Faster resizing?

when I take pictures with my cam they are usually gigantic, that is fine and all, but sometimes I want to resize them in batches.
Ctrl+Alt+I gives me the menu, I type 1920, krita automatically calculates the new height for that width and I press enter to confirm and… nothing, I have to move the mouse to the ok button or hit tab a lot to reach that button. Is there any way to just confirm the new width and be done?
Before I request that as a feature I wanted to see if I’m the only one hanging on this and if there are other ways to get this done.

 Hello @_tt, and welcome to the forum!

I can not tell if you are the only one, but I can tell you that I don’t have this issue.
But to be able to support you, we need your support. This means to narrow down the issue we need information from you.
What Version of Krita do you use and from where did you get it?
What is your operating system (Android, macOS, Linux, Windows, ChromeOS)?
It is possible that we will need to ask more questions to help you with this issue, so don’t be surprised if there come more questions.

so you mean you type a number in the resize dialog, confirm with enter and you are done. that is great.

I use linux mint, get the appImage from the krita.org website and have the new 5.2.0. maybe it even worked the way I think is better in the previous version…

In yhs case ImageMagic might be a better tool to do it.

Correct. But I use Windows, I will check it later with Linux.

Definitely, I would also use an external tool to scale quantity images.
ImageMagick also works, but without a UI, you have to use the command line.
If you prefer a graphical UI then use XnView MP’s resizer XnResize* for example, this is available for all standard platforms, IrfanView also has a batch processor, but you have to use that with WINE, but then it works flawlessly under Linux.
And I guess there are more tools to comfortably do these massive batch-jobs.

Add/Edit:
*I just had to learn that XnResize isn’t yet ported to Linux.

You can tweak this code to scale instead or cropping.

Now I have also checked it with SUSE Linux Tumbleweed and there it works as well.
So I would guess that it has to do with some kind of configuration. Finding out where the problem is, and whether it’s Krita or the system, is now in your hands.

And I have found a batch conversion tool for Windows, Linux, macOS, FreeBSD, and more, “Converseen” is a solid solution, and it seems to be based on ImageMagick if I’m not mistaken. I could install it from the repo, perhaps your distro offers this too, or you go with the AppImage.

hmm, thanks for confirming that is on my end. Would have been a bug otherwise, but HOW can I find out how to fix this???

I would search all the configuration options of the system, somewhere there could be a hook set, or a radio button enabled that is causing this behavior. You could also be rude and try a reset of Krita, but then you have to set up Krita’s interface again. :frowning:

I tried and it works on 5.1.4 just like it should do…
I haven’t customized krita all that much (at least I think so) and used 5.2.0 like I downloaded the appimage so resetting might not do much.
How do I reset everything. And is this for settings as in checkboxes in the preferences and also for addons and the like, as I installed stable diffusion to run that locally, that might stop working but I could give it a try.
or I just keep using 5.1.4 and wait for 5.2.1 with a bugfix :frowning:

edit: lol, that sad smiley earned me a badge of the first emoji used… that makes me smile again

In Krita do → ‘‘Settings’’ → ‘‘Reset All Settings’’.

If you have to re-set-up your plugins etc. I can not tell you by now, because I have to test it first.
At least a reason to set up another environment for tests like that. Slowly, but surely I have to create a database with all my installations and document them in it, so as not to lose track. If you are curious, I currently have 13 installations on Windows, and 4 on Linux…
