@Montie I think you shoud write this out as a feature request for all of the transform tools that use this cage (perspective and free transform come to mind).
In fact for a few days I’ve been thinking about making a request to include a new triangular color selector, after all there are two types of square, it would be nice if we had the option of two types of triangle.

I suspect this is already there but broken. There is alt modifier shortcut to enable anchor point transform. However I think it doesn’t work now.
@Montie I agree it is indeed useful to not click somewhere while transforming. As I said there is supposed to be an alt modifier but it is not working now.

Hopefully things work as intended in the upcoming update.
Was this bug already reported? Otherwise it won’t be fixed.
E: Oh wait, there was an Alt key bug, which activates the toolbar instead. That is being fixed as we speak.
