Hello,
Up until something like 1 or 2 years ago, I could specify the file extension in the file name: myPainting.png would be myPainting.png whatever the extension chosen in the combo box. So handy!
But since a certain change if the combo box doesn’t match the file name, for example it’s ok kra…
it will only propose myPainting.kra or myPainting.png.kra, forcing me to cancel, take the time t select png in that painful combo box and save again.
I thought, maybe someone knows of some checkbox deep in the settings that would enable the old behavior ?
This is a long going issue (1 or 2 years), but yet tried with the latest available dmg: 5.3.0-prealpha (git f410665)
If it works for you then my guess is it’s an OS issue then. (I’m on mac os). I genuinely thought people wanted precedence on the combo box when it first happened…
Yes, it’s because you’re using the native macOS file dialog. You can disable that in Preferences under General->Miscellaneous (it’s right above Maximum brush size), and use the Qt one, which will allow you to save as whatever extension regardless of what’s in the combobox. If you want to use the macOS file dialog, you can also change the combobox to “All supported file types” at the top instead of having to go find the specific one you want.
Thanks! Unchecking the use native dialog solved it. Feels so much simpler!
I also tried the “all supported types” but it silently renamed my files and save them in the wrong extension
