👀 for a better method for applying gradientmaps

Gradientmaps…

I’m working on a logo, it’s in multiple layers, different parts, extra overpainting, subtext etc. – everything is gathered in the same group so I can easily move around/scale etc. But now I want to add a gradient map, do you have any tips on how to approach this? I’ve previously selected all the fields with the selection tool (wand) and created an extra layer, and in that way added a gradient layer on top, but this also results in pretty ugly edges due to the selection tool… Tips appreciated.

It would be useful to know which selection tool you used and what the option settings in the tool options docker were when you made the selection.
Further, a full screen screenshot, with the layers docker fully visible and with large layer thumbnails is always useful to see.
Two screenshots, one with and one without the gradient layer active would also be useful to see.
Which gradient did you use?

I’d likely apply the gradient as a Filter Layer or a Filter Mask (as a mask, it’d be applied to a group containing the layers you expect to use the gradient on). Because both the Filter Layer and Filter Mask allow you use them as a mask, you can clear out the effect by filling the layer in with black and then use shades of grey and white to bring out the gradient color over the areas you’d like, (as you would with a Transparency Mask).
