Frames issue in Krita Animation

Hello,

I have a question about Krita Animation. I was drawing the frames and when I played it, all my frames are shown on the screen, I mean 1st frame appears on 2nd, 3rd and stays till end of the animation, 2nd frame appears on 3rd, 4th and so on. Did someone face with the same problem? Please help

Which version are you using? There have been some fixes recently to animation playback, so maybe your version doesn’t have that yet?

I reinstalled today the latest version from the website, not sure what happened wrong

Welcome to the forum

Can you upload a full screenshot (.png) of the entite krita window showing the Layers docker, Timeline docker and Animation docker?

Have you had this problem or any problem with animation before?

Its just the second time I practice animation, and for the first time I didn’t have any problems, but from yesterday I try to to figure out what happened with Krita. So this is the screenshot, just made few frames and still all of them are shown. Please tell me if I do something wrong there

Just to be sure, is this version 4.2.9?
When you say ‘play’, do you mean the play button in the Animation docker or are you manually scrubbing the timeline?
If you turn onion skins off (the lightbulb icon to the left of frame-0), does that affect the result?
Have you been making new frames by doing Create Blank Frame or Create Duplicate Frame? (If you use Create Duplicate Frame then you will have previous frame content on your new frame.)

Yes Krita 4.2.9
I use ‘play’ button from Animation docker, and from the 0frame I created ‘new blank frame’. If onion skin is off the result is the same.

BTW I created the new blank frame once in the beginning, should I create it every time on the next frames?

It depends if you want the new/next frame to have content from the previous frame.

When you say, " I created the new blank frame once in the beginning…", does this mean that is the only time you used new blank frame and after that you used duplicate frame?

If I don’t want to have a content from the previous frame I should create new blank frame on the every frame?

I created it once on the 1 frame and after I just click on the frame is needed and start drawing. Did I do it wrong? =.=

Yes you did. That horizontal blue line means that the frame contains the ‘held’ contents of the previous frame. If you draw on a held frame, you add content to it and it becomes a new frame.
You need to click ‘Add blank frame’ in the animation docker or do right-click on the frame in the timeline and select ‘Create Blank Frame’.

omg, thank you for the help!:joy::sweat_smile:

Hey! I have a very similar issue… but I am creating new, blank frames for each new frame. Hoping you could help. When I draw each of my frames onto the timeline, I can scroll through using my keyboard and they will each show in the correct order, but when I press play to watch them as one single animation, the order is messed up: for example, on a simple three frame animation, with frames 0, 1 and 2, it will play back as if frame 0 was frame 2, frame 1 was frame zero, and frame 2 was frame 1 (it appears that the order is shifted)! If you need a video so that you can see what is going on, i can post one. Hopefully you can help, thanks!

It might also be helpful to mention that I am working in version 4.2.9 of Krita on a Mac: I tried version 4.2.6 as well, but had the same issues. It might be an issue with my computer instead of the program, but I am not sure. Krita is an amazing program, and I would love to use it to learn animation. Will appreciate any and all help!
