Free scripts (help for paper/printer profiling and screen ICC profile switching)

Hi All,

As many of you no doubt fiddle with technical aspects of printing artwork or viewing your work on a screen with correct color space (sRGB, AdobeRGB or similar), I wanted to share two scripts that I made which help me. Feel free to use or modify them to your usage. Make sure to read the User Guide for both scripts.

  1. For those of you who profile your paper for perfect printing of colors, using instruments like X-Rite Colormunki Photo / i1Studio, i1 Pro / i1 Pro 2 / i1 Pro 3 or other instruments compatible with ArgyllCMS:
The command line usage of the free ArgyllCMS tools are extremely complicated to dive into and requires lots of time and effort, with many steps in a workflow, for profiling a printer / paper for printing. For that reason I made a script that provides a simple user-focused guidance from start to finish for creating printer ICC profiles using ArgyllCMS. Compatible with Windows, Linux and MacOS (python or bash-command).:
Argyll_Printer_Profiler Scripts — User Guide | Script for calibrating printers using ArgyllCMS on MacOS, Linux or Windows
  2. For this of you who frequently need to change screen color space mode, such as between sRGB to AdobeRGB or vice versa, and thus must also change the local software display ICC profile to match with the display color space:
I made a simple script (per today Mac only) that helps to switch fast between display ICC profiles that I define in the script. Also includes Automator .app files so that one may run the command scripts from the Dock or from Applications folder.

Hope these are helpful to some of you art lovers

Cheers,

Knut
