From time to time when using the edit button I accidentally toggle the full screen button. Then I can’t get back to where I was without closing out the work and then reloading.
Hello and welcome to the forum 
View → Full Screen Mode is a Ctrl+Shift+F toggle action.
View → Show Canvas Only is a Tab toggle action.
If it’s one of those then getting back to normal view should be simple.
