Fusion of Krita and blender's grease pencil

Well a simple 2d Animation done in Krita and Blender. Used each software’s strengths in my pipeline that was a bit hectic really. They all got their headaches but overall was an exciting experience.

good work!

what part of the process did you do in blender?

I’ve already animated with both and unfortunately krita is a bit buggy with the animation curves. So I’m very interested in your workflow.

i did the storyboards and rough animation of all the six shots in krita and then rendered out pngs and then did the clean up, coloring in blender. Backgrounds painted in krita from sky to background and foreground grass. The sky hdri created in Krita is setup as an environment texture in blender and keyframed to make the sky feel as though its moving, abit exagerated movement though but yes. So background without the characters was rendered and composited in blender. Character animation rendered out alone with transparency. And then all put together in blender again as the video editor. I use blender’s graph editor also.

in summary krita is used for the idea creation, palete, color keys, storyboard to rough animation, background painting.
Blender is used for the cleanup, coloring and shading with its greasepencil, compositing, video editing and final rendering. Yes and then getting sad you leaving out some shots cause they kill the impact. yes
