It is so encouraging! I guess it may be a good aid for some to recognize themselves.

Been working on a lot of art lately for the 2nd chapter. The script is still in the process of being written, but It shouldn’t be too long before it’s done, hopefully.
That’s why I started work on some concept/ character art for it, helps keep the mind working out ideas and such. Storytelling is a kind of surgical process, at least for me. I have to piece by piece slice and mold different scenes or ideas together to make them work. Ultimately, the goal is to make something entertaining and emotionally fulfilling. Those are the two things you gotta get right.
Also, big story moment happened in today’s comic update, check it out on ComicFury if you haven’t already… And also, the comic is now available to read on Webtoon today!
The first scene is available to read, but I’m not sure how the Webtoon will update in comparison with Comicfury, it may be more of a once a month kind of thing. But I’ll probably post a couple episodes to start… Maybe, we’ll see.
Quite a lot of work you’ve put in there, and I love it. Can’t wait to see more.
Thank you! It’s funny, I always thought my first comic would be some big action adventure story with lots of world building and the like… Instead, I made a slice-of-life drama. But honestly it’s better, it’s more intimate and slow, and that challenges me in ways that an action heavy story would not have.
Plus, the concept for the characters have been sitting in my head for some years now and needed to be set free in some form. Now or never right?
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. Cute characters, it turned out juicy and fascinating.
Спасибо что поделились этой замечательной историей. Милые персонажи, сочно и увлекательно получилось.
Thank you so much! Chapter 1 isn’t even complete yet! Trust me, it’s gonna get even better. ![]()
Another update today, we’re finally in the last stretch of story for Chapter 1. (On ComcFury at least) Reached the point I’d been working for so long towards.
All pages for Chapter 1 will be released by August 15th, which means I’ll be out of my backlog at that point.
Chapter 2 is in the works, finished the first 3 pages, but the script is still unfinished, so I really ought to finish that before releasing much else. The wait between chapters shouldn’t be too long tho.
So Chapter 1 of Gingerberry has completed its run on ComicFury! Webtoon is behind a few pages, but should also reach its conclusion next week! Yay! ![]()
I JUST this week finished writing Chapter 2 (Phew!) But had already started drawing some pages for Chapter 2 before that because I was impatient. Good thing tho! I’ve got about 7 pages of Chapter 2 done now, which is enough of a buffer for me to feel safe doing weekly page releases starting September. So barely a break between chapters.
Its honestly really freeing to finally have a story of mine up-and-running. It always seemed so challenging to bring a story of mine to life, but I have absolute faith in myself now to keep this going till the end.
I want this story to be wholesome, emotional, and sensitive… And while it may be a “Kid Friendly” story, it has mature themes that I believe adults will relate to much more. This story is a passion project of mine that will likely last 5 years or more. I’m not someone who wants to make a comic/manga that lasts forever or with a ton of filler, I have a very intentional direction I want the story to go in and I want it to have a very defined ending. I imagine this story will last 10-15 chapters, with 10 being the minimum and 15 being the longest I could draw it out for. 12-13 is probably the sweet spot.
Hope you enjoy reading the complete first chapter, and stay tuned for the start of Chapter 2! ![]()
Congratulations! This is wonderful!

Silly comic strip today. This one is for the plant folks out there!
~Part one
~Part two
I’ll try and do more comic strips, and maybe use them as a buffer between chapters. I could even do different art styles and play around and have fun with them. They add character to, well, the characters, whether or not they would be considered canonical or not.
Anyway, Chapter two begins its release schedule next week!
Thank you for this! I find this so cool!

And Thank YOU for being so kind and supportive! ![]()
I appreciate it!
Thank you! However, I don’t do that in every topic, I only post comments like that about works that touch me in a certain way. And that’s quite rare.

Well that’s even more special to me then! Thank you! ![]()
Just finished a new page of chapter 2 (Pge 14) and thought I’d showcase what a page in its different processes look like. (Took out the dialogue to avoid spoilers)
This is a simplification of the process, I usually am jumping between different layers doing different parts at different times (Inking, coloring) I usually have a dozen or more layers, the characters are on their own group layer, the background is its own group layer, and I have one or two filter layers for the colors (Sometimes affecting the whole page, other times for just the character or BG group layers) I also add a noise and paper texture layer on top of the final page to give the art more naturalism.
Believe it or not, everything in this comic is done in Krita, that includes word balloons, text and SFX. It’s just easy for me that way. But that said, every page is born as a thumbnail first on physical paper in my sketchbook. And I thumbnail multiple pages at the same time to keep good pace with the story flow.
I also just created a tumblr blog for the comic… The only reason is because I got an email from Tumblr telling me that I would loose my old username if I didn’t claim it again. (Haven’t been there in a LONG time) But then I thought maybe Tumblr would be a good place to share the comic as they seem to have a stronger art community then other social medias. (I don’t know that for sure) But either way, it’ll act very similar to what I do here on this forum, sharing little tid-bits and page updates. (probably more often) So, if you want, feel free to follow it.
We’re two pages into Chapter 2 today, very exciting! Even more exciting is that I’ve completed the first 16 pages of Chapter 2 (Yay!)
It’s feels great having a buffer, because I know I’ve got 14 weeks of pages I can rely on!
I only update weekly on ComicFury, tho I consider if I should be doing per page updates on Webtoons as well… I would edit my pages to fit Webtoon scroll format and would compile multiple pages together that made up a complete scene, but I wonder if smaller updates of the single pages would be better.
Wonderful, I love your humor!
