I was wondering if there would be a coloured version. Very nice!

I really adore your classic style, your de-saturated colors match that style perfectly!
It’s reminiscent of early 20th century illustration.
Where do you find references and inspiration for it?

WOw. That looks incredible. I like how intricately detailed the drawing is.

Beautifully done!

I love the monochromatic color scheme! How do you usually choose colors for your artworks?

Thank you, I love details, but I tend to overdo them, so I hope I found a balance here

Thank you!

Happy to hear that! Although it’s really not monochromatic but blue, green and orange/brown which makes for a split complimentary colour harmony.
I usually know what a character looks like and what colours they wear, so I try to find matching colours. Most of the time I look at the colour wheel in krita (wide gamut or artistic) to find a nice harmony. Last week I found a useful online tool though: https://color.adobe.com/de/ - so fun to play around with!

Thank you so much! I’m very much interested in late 19th/early 20th century art, so yeah, a lot of my inspiration I find in that (Mucha, Beardsley, Klimt, Böcklin, Gallen-Kallela, Art Nouveau, Symbolism, Décadence…)
I usually use pinterest for finding reference photos (for the artwork above, too. I used (warning: partial male nudity) this. Oftentimes I take photos of myself and use those.
For the waves and the sea buckthorn I looked at reference pictures but didn’t exactly copy them, just tried to understand the respective structure and let my imagination do the rest. Armor, face, hair, clothing are all drawn from imagination, but that only works because I’ve already drawn a lot of these things (although I still practise drawing them by copying references).

This style reminds me of some Tarot cards I have seen. Beautifully done!

Same here!
One more question then, because I see this come up quite a lot.
You say you look up references on pinterest, and I have heard of others who use both pinterest and google.
So what is the point of that? Will pinterest show different results than say google images?

Gorgeous work! Love the Aquatic Throne of His Majesty! :person_with_crown:

Yes, Pinterest shows different results than Google’s image search, and better ones too if you look for references imho. Pinterest is a search engine, but… idk, a social one? You use your account to like (‘pin’) and comment on images. The images you pin get saved in your gallery. You can put them in dedicated folders (for example I have a folder with only full body photo references), and based on what is in a folder Pinterest gives you further suggestions. Google seems to work better if you’re looking for precise information, like sword types of the 12th century etc.

Ah I see, yes, I’m familiar with pinterest but usually only use it for cooking recipes :joy:
It’s interesting that it yields different results, and indeed, very useful that you can save reference images in folders

Ok, sorry, I didn’t mean to lecture you  I tend to find Pinterest more inspiring, like a huge mood/reference board accustomed to my searches & tastes. Oh, and btw thank you sooo much for nominating my artwork, I just saw it today :smiling_face_with_tear: much, much appreciated!!

Interesting, you’re the second person to suggest that. I don’t know a lot about tarot, but I usually like the aesthetics. Maybe I should look into making a deck, idk. Thank you!
