Granny Bazooka

So I’m trying to sell a new story about a special granny.
Disclaimer, I didn’t bother looking for refs for the rocket launcher… sorry
There is a palette on the left! Actually coming from another try at the same persona.
I’m glad I can reuse colors in a predictable ways that easily with that kind of simple shading style…
It’s checking all the boxes I had set:

  • be polyvalent (background, characters, whatever…)
  • keep me in a painting approach/mindset
  • be fast enough
  • be simple (no headache before a dreaded drawing)
  • predictable
  • fun to do
  • fit webtoon’s criterias…

And just to be transparent, this took much more time than what a regular panel is expected to.

On the right is the starting point, I was just trying to get an idea of painting without details and went for it in the end…

Sorry I don’t have much steps this time

and back to final

This one I found too liny, and since I use a simple pen tablet, I just don’t like lining (even on a display)

This one was very slow and not fun. And the soft shading wasn’t working as I wanted… Also I found it was too… common ?

This one is the one I reused the palette from:

Thanks! More to come as she stretches and cracks her back!
I still need to set up a way to express the hand knitted top!
