Having seen @Lynx3d work on krita I can assure that they have an active role in the community. In any case please do not reply targeting the person but write about what’s wrong in their post. Lynx3d gave their opinion on the video you shared but not on you personally.
I would like the discussion be a bit calmer. We all get carried away in our passion for features but let us try to be a bit respectful towards other users.
I understand. I make no apologies though for asking questions about someone’s intentions. It good for us all to get a reality check every now and then. Just as you have done to me.
I shared the video on the premise that more people are picking up the tool and are taking a stab at it. That’s a good thing right and exciting right? So why not share and be encouraging to people who are pushing the boundary for better tools.
Would you rather work under someone who is encouraging the work do every day? or someone who just keeps pointing out everything that is wrong with the work you do? One will yield longer last results.
No apologies here for asking questions and offering the opportunity for a sanity check. I appreciate what your saying.
I am all for being more supportive of the community, not in a grumbling way though.
No I am very sure that its grease pencil is what should be pursued for reason that I mentioned above in earlier comments. I was showing off that more “known studios” are pursuing such a tool as well.
The studio would like to have that vector flash like experience. I understand that completely & why. Grease Pencil still has some ways to go. Thank you though.
@Yuri_B The devs know about this, bumping topics isn’t going to help much. They read the forums, but its only a small team that’s working on Krita, so they can’t implement all requests immediately. I would advise you to just like the ideas you like and only post if you have anything to add to a particular topic. Fresh ideas are always welcome, just Photoshop has it Krita should to - not so much. See: Developing Features — Krita Manual 5.0.0 documentation
By the way, I find Grease Pencil rather limited, so I would look at Illustrator/ Affinity Designer vector brush features instead.
I found they are more responsive if you present a use case with - example and illustration and what you use if for and how you want it to improve. You can also check the dev started topics - [those are one that are currently under development or planned to be / that are from previous requested things]
So not just a comment but comment with some feedback and insight
Also with a small team and currently under development feature. - Newer request take a bit if time . Lucky though i think Krita is entering a new cycle with 5.1 about to be launch so new things might be in for the release after that.
as for vector as far as I know it probably be under dev. Based on what i gather with post [ Perspective, Webtoon/ Comic tools (Which probably are vector) are ones currently asking for feedbacks. You might want to drop by there look and see if some of those fit what your request, or if your requested feature can be integrated.
Cheers.
Yeah i think this one would be more inline with Krita. Do Krita have hold to shape function right now. draw scribly circle with vector pen, hold for a second → circle? or something like hold to smooth/ simplify curve.
Based on the more recent test done with curves and looking around the neighborhood I am in two minds about this topic.
Grease pencil is great, though it really is lacking so much, in too many areas, and it is very limiting in terms of technology moving forward.
Vector, however since looking more and more at the Inkscape project ENVE and Blender curves has made me realize there are much larger libraries and history that goes back to curves.
If curves were to be pushed forward in Krita I believe a good place to start would be thinking about how it would be used for animation instead illustration.
FYI for people that are interested me another developer have been doing some work with Blender that is going to enable users to animate with curves and get tweens for free.
Our next goal will be to try and tackle booleans for curves in Blender. If you know someone let us know?
The developers have their own list of things to do and documentation about them. They also have their own discussion and development areas.
Anyone can see those areas and join the communication channels.
Whether or not anyone could make meaningful contributions to those documents and discussion channels is a different matter.
A topic on this forum that is kept ‘active’ by someone saying “Bump, I like this” becomes an annoyance, not a source of information. It also makes it more difficult to notice that new artwork topics or new problem topics have been posted.
This will be addressed in Blender when the Grease Pencil datablock is refactored, see: Developer Discussion: New Grease Pencil Data Structure Proposal - Technical Feedback - Developer Forum
Currently, Grease Pencil uses something similar to polylines, those are segmented curves. Ideally, it should use bezier curves to really create vector shapes. You can’t really zoom in much on segmented lines, unlike bezier curves.

@Yuri_B From time to time there are also topics in which general feedback for Krita is given, those are the topics in which you can do some feature name dropping. In general, I would explain feature requests as follows: I would like to see *Feature X* added, because for my workflow *explain workflow*, I currently need to do it like *this*, but if I could do it like *that*, it is a big improvement, because *reason*.
Generally, for Krita, it’s okay if you bump a topic once in a while. But it’s a little frowned upon if you do this for many topics in a short time-frame. I do understand your point of bringing it to attention. For other software forums with a larger userbase and less direct contact with the devs, that’s indeed the convention.
P.S. Please don’t be discouraged from posting now, the more users and input the merrier
We already know about blender moving forward to do that. That is one of the reasons why we are forging ahead with this. It will probably be another year or 2 years before that rewrite is done. Considering the amount of time it has taken grease pencil to get to this level we are not interested in waiting for someone else to do it.
The development is based on making the traditional and hybrid animation as easy as possible. Simplicity is key and that’s what we want to deliver on. Krita is included developement in our development plan.
So you’re the next who haven’t read or understood the Code of Conduct (and probably also the TOS), and while you have read so many postings you have not noticed that there are so few bumps.
It is sad that you decided to leave, but that is your decision, but if you can’t stand a critic of your behavior, you are in the wrong forum. We care for each other, and we care for the forum, but we can not hold you if you want to leave.
But you don’t have to play the offended one here, and I find it funny that you put down further postings after you announced here that you don’t want to do this anymore, that’s a bad character trait not to stand by your own words.
If you want to leave, do so and if you want to stay, please be so kind and try to adapt to the customs here.
Is writing bump bump bump constructive? Resurrecting old thread is called necrobumping . In my other message to you earlier, I did not discourage you from creating your own thread. I only said that just bumping old topic will not give any results rather it will drown new posts from people who want help today. Their posts will go off the home page just because you felt the need to bump old topic without reason. Is this good behavior ?
We do not wish you to go away, instead we only suggested that it is annoying to see only “I like this” “bump” “bump” messages continuously.
