Recently I’ve started a portrait course and absolutely love every minute of it. So the classes are live on location, and I practice more in Krita. So here is a nose study

This one is difficult since I just can’t get the mouth right … any tips?

Hi there, great work so far .

The mouth problem might be because the lips have both underbite and overbite (protruding too much from the face) but it could happen because placement or the shading. When I am not sure I usually just make a layer copy of the area and use the ‘Distort Brush’ for slight adjustment (Push/Pulling the pixels). Although this brush will make things it touch blurry so you have to clean things up again. Hope this helps

I keep forgetting about the distort brush. I keep using the lasso and move tool which doesn’t work well when a piece is past the draft phase.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I appreciate it.

Since I have been struggling with it for a long time, I just traced the mouth from the reference. The model has an under- and overbite. So it is a shading thing. It is mainly the side of the mouth that is barely visible. I just need to practice shading more so I get the hang out of it I guess.

First commission piece of Louise Brooks for a friend. Still a work in progress.

Don’t like the gradient from the vignette. How can I make it more smooth?
