Hard press switch from brush to dropper

I am coming to Krita from Ibis Paint X. I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and so the keyboard shortcuts don’t work for me. Many artists use the eye dropper in their workflows to pick colors for blending. In Ibis if you pressed firmly and held down the tip of your stylus on the canvas the eye dropper would pop up. You could then move it around to find the color. When you lifted you went back to brush mode with the selected color. This made painting so much faster than have to switch between the tools manually. I know there are many android updates coming in the next release so not sure if it’s included.

Thank you!

Hi @Mandeeloo - There should be a swipe right gesture available to the S-Pen. I can see the gesture in the S-Pen actions in the Configure Krita window. I don’t have an S-Pen so I can’t comment on how well this works.

Does not coming in the near update as far as I know.

It might need S-pen Air Action enabled to use the S Pen Action in krita.
I never use air action, so didn’t try yet.

Quote from another thread about Air action to work with krita’s S Pen Actions

It’s the addiional movement away from th canvas that’s slowing me down.

There is one guesture which you can assign for color picker. @abhifx mentioned it in this thread - Quick Colour Pick On Tablet - #6 by abhifx

There is one finger drag gesture which can be assigned as colour sampler and it works flawlessly.

This is not by default but you can assign this. Can you try and see if it works for you?

Is this where you would enable it? If so, does it require a restart? As is it’s not invoking the color sample.

Your action need to set to Sample Foreground Color from Merged Image, which is the “normal” eye dropper function.

Just add a new one and change the action

Thanks Raghu for the ping, would it be better if i post my settings in a separate thread?

The one finger drag is already convenient for panning - I think adding a long-finger-press action for eye dropper is doable and useful; right now on the samsung tab I use the pen button, which registers as middle mouse, for eyedropper tool

Well for me one finger drag also gives the oppertunity to select colour from nearby region until i find the right colour. Not sure if single tap will help that.

Clip studio with touch screen has the option for long press as color selector - after you long press with finger, it kinda switches to the eyedropper tool (not sure if that’s what happened) and you can drag around until you find your color, aided with a large color preview ring in recent patches

If krita has the same behaviour then yes that will also makes sense.

As of now I have one finger tap to turn on pop up wheel. And drag for colour. This two combination alone has made my workflow super fast in canvas only mode.

I will probably create a video to explain my setup
