Harvest Town Horse Farm: Chris Ford fan art, Sherry Allen fan art

Long post. Fan art + fan fiction.

Group fan art: Glen Cruz, Lee Yeung, Chris Ford, Sherry Allen, and Fay.

Fan story: Glen and Jerry had a bet. They invited the young men, Yeung and Chris, to settle the bet through a four-legged race. (The kids ride, the men turn into their “horses” since Peter didn’t allow them actual horseback riding.)

Since Glen and Yeung are close, Glen managed to convince Yeung to agree to the race. (He even took off his glasses and rolled up his tracksuit bottoms, while Glen proclaimed, “Onward, noble steed!”)

Chris of House Ford wouldn’t agree to such childish games, unlike Yeung. He still did, however, because the child Jerry had something over him.

Jerry’s older sister catches them, highly amused, and goes to grab some popcorn while seating on Chris’s usual spot in the sofa.

She greets, “Hey, Fay~ Want some popcorn?” to the young woman who went to the horse farm to drop off some animal supplies, only to find the man she had business with missing. (He left in a huff, after his son’s outrageous idea to play with the horses with no reliable horsemen to guide them, forgetting that she was going to visit.)

Fay is confused why the Allens (and sometimes Justin Ortiz) insist on eating heated corn in striped white and red buckets, but Sherry ultimately persuades her to grab some popcorn–“Ahh, just take some”–and they watch the others horse around.

Chris removes his formal suit jacket, thankful the Allens have an ironing board, as Sherry teases him. “Want me to hold your Rolex?”

Chris knows Sherry is as cunning as Foxy, knows he will never get his watch back without doing Sherry a favor in exchange. He laughs and simply says, “the Allens are the worst” and Glen gets impatient and tells Chris to let Jerry sit on his back.

Wouldn’t it be easier to use a Creative commons license of CC BY-NC-ND?

Am I correct in thinking that Harvest Town is an Android/console game?
If so, it’s very probably copyrighted so do you have the creator’s permission to produce these works?
Just wondering.

If you look at the tags, you’ll see that I did in fact specify CC BY-NC-ND.
All those check and ex details are for those who have no idea what Creative Commons is, and don’t care to look them up. I’m a writer apart from an artist, so it’s no hassle at all to make a list of the ways I want and don’t want my creations used. In fact, I copy-paste these things and not type them every upload so there’s no need for you to worry about my effort.

No, you are not “just wondering”. Clearly, you have looked it up and found the answer you’re looking for. There are only so many Chris Fords and Sherry Allens related to Harvest Towns in the world. I’d have appreciated it more if you directly said that I was not able to cite Avid Gamers.

As for the copyright concern, I will edit the forum post to cite Avid Gamers.

However, I stand by the belief that in a website as obscure as Krita Artists dot Org, it’s a bit ironic to be so concerned about how much effort it takes for me to list down how people may use my creation, yet unconcerned about how redundant it is to write, “This is a fan art of Harvest Town, a farming game”–which I have done on my blog, Twitter, Instagram, FB Page, even Pinterest which are all much less obscure, and in the captions, headings, and even the image filename–when the people who’d care about that information will look it up anyway.

As for creator’s permissions… I am not sure what world you live in. I mean this in the kindest possible way. Is there no fandom culture where you live?
First of all: the ease of looking up Harvest Town aside, the fact that I have explicitly stated this to be fan art aside… this is under fair use. I have even posted these fan artworks on their official group, not being the first to make fan art, and none of our artworks have been taken down.
Second, I have taken responsibility to categorize this as under CC BY-NC-ND, implicitly CC BY-NC-ND-SA (because you have nothing to improperly “share un-alike” if you have no derivative). As such, there will be no misattributions of me being part of the Harvest Town team, and if there is someone who wishes to make derivatives of Harvest Town’s characters, then it is Avid Gamers they will cite. Again, that is if they are interested enough in Harvest Town in the first place. If they cite me, it is either improperly–which is no longer a fault on my part as I have done my part–or they are citing something original I contributed, such as the fan fiction.

Please excuse me if I write long. This is natural for me. I just prefer it over unstructured and time-consuming back-and-forth that risks missing points that need to be made.

I doubt that very much but I do realise that I made a big mistake in trying to engage with you at all.

Oh, but it is I who regrets. I disregarded tone and engaged fairly with logical points, even though what you have commented can be seen as condescension, if not concern trolling. Yet if you doubt that one line, then I shall engage with you no more, either.

If you are offended by that line, know that I only considered the possibility because unfamiliarity with fandom culture is the only reason I see for you–for anyone–to be this nit-picky.

Going off topic… well done on providing so much detail using flat colours!

Thank you, I appreciate it.
I admit that it is partly due to luck for this piece. I try to remember I’ll be making lineless flat color when drawing the sketch underneath, but sometimes I do forget.

Compliments like this make the pain of coloring Yeung’s glasses worth it. XD
