Hello, I would like to improve my art, because I dont think I’m that good yet, so I’m asking ways to improve the way to use the brushes. Stabilizer is too stiff and I would like to know a way to make brush strokes better and have more clear lines.
One of his strengths is that his drawings are dynamic, even when they don’t contain any background, as in the case of the Komodo dragon.
As for brushes, I can’t help much: what I use most in Krita for the outlines of drawings is a G-Pen, slightly modified by me.
In my opinion, the best way is to perfect your lines, the way you want, without relying too much on stabilizers. There’s an exercise I did recently, as described here.
Long before that, I practiced linework exercises daily for a few months. These were traditional, using pencil and paper. See this post and this one for more details.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.
This is just my opinion; whether it helps you or not is something you have to decide or try out for yourself.
The Draw-a-box exercise program, which seems simple at first but becomes increasingly challenging as it progresses, can be a good way to improve your skills if the course suits you. After all, even the best exercises are of little use if you do them reluctantly or with boredom.
Learning and practicing should be enjoyable, but it always takes time and patience, and you have to be willing to invest those things. In addition, exercises should always challenge you a little in order for you to progress.
My opinion is that you should avoid using stabilizers if possible, or set them to basic at most, for minimal smoothing, in order to get a feel for what you are doing. Stabilizers and other technical aids may have their place in professional use, because there, even for artists, it is usually important to deliver performance/work per unit of time (lets say a picture per day), and the whole thing has to look good too. This is where the use of technology helps those who are already sufficiently skilled.
